From Sept. 25th to 27th, the 9th annual ÖGMBT meeting took place in Innsbruck at the CCB, in cooperation with the 8th "Life Sciences Meeting Innsbruck".
The meeting was organized by a team of scientists from the Biocenter of the Medical University Innsbruck and the Center for Moleculare Biosciences Innsbruck (CMBI) of the Leopold Franzens University Innsbruck, together with the ÖGMBT. About 400 visitors and 36 exhibitors met at the Center for Chemistry and Biomedicine (CCB) to engage in scientific exchange and networking.
The aim of this annual conference and the Life Science Meeting Innsbruck was to present the latest scientific findings on "molecular and cellular mechanisms of human diseases". Austrian scientists discussed recent progress together with internationally recognized experts.
The FWF-funded PhD programs SPIN, HOROS and MCBO also supported the ÖGMBT meeting. One of the central goals of ÖGMBT is to promote them and award them prizes. The Life Science Research Award Austria 2017, which was awarded for the first time in Innsbruck in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy, went to Sabrina Ladstätter from the Vienna Research Institute IMBA in the Basic Research category. In the Applied Research category, the prestigious award went to Paul Datlinger from the CeMM Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Parallel to the annual meeting, the cooperated Biophysics Austria Annual Meeting also took place in the CCB, as well as the event "Metabolomics Insights" in cooperation with the Standortagentur Tirol. The 2018 Annual Conference titled "10 years life, science & molecules" will take place in Vienna from 17 to 20 September.
