From March 16-18th, 2017, the MCBO community dedicated three days to the mid-term review of the ongoing thesis projects. 22 PhD students presented their research in short talks and discussed the progress and future directions of their projects with the MCBO faculty and three scientific advisory board members (Manuela Baccarini/Vienna, Marc Freichel/ Heidelberg and Michael Sixt/Vienna).
Finally, a guest lecture on “Molecular control of cellular navigation” by Michael Sixt completed the program. At night we enjoyed the traditional South Tyrolean cuisine a nearby restaurant and on Friday we had a concert with dance by the MCBO band, The Molecular Shape Shifters.
The romantic meeting venue at the Abby of Neustift, combined with amazing sunny spring weather, provided a beautiful setting, and a tour to the Ötzi Museum in Bozen at the end of the program gave the final cultural touch to this intensive meeting.
